Secure your cryptocurrency with confidence – Your Trezor journey begins here.
Trezor® is a pioneer in hardware wallet technology, offering unmatched security and user-friendly features for storing and managing cryptocurrency assets. Whether you are new to the crypto world or an experienced investor, learning how to set up your Trezor device is your first step to digital asset security.
Before you connect your Trezor, ensure your device’s holographic seal is intact. This seal guarantees your hardware wallet has not been tampered with. Inside the box, you’ll find your Trezor device, a USB cable, recovery seed cards, and instructions for first-time setup.
Using the included USB cable, connect your Trezor to a computer or smartphone. Visit the official Trezor Suite interface through suite.trezor.io. The interface will automatically detect your device and guide you through the setup process.
When you connect for the first time, your Trezor may need a firmware update. Follow on-screen prompts to install the latest firmware. This ensures your device is up to date with the most secure version available. Once updated, you'll be prompted to create a new wallet or recover an existing one using your recovery seed.
Select “Create New Wallet” if you are a new user. Trezor will generate a 12 to 24-word recovery phrase. This phrase is your master key – lose it and you lose access to your assets. Carefully write it down and confirm it during the setup process.
After setup, you’ll access the Trezor Suite – your personal crypto command center. Here you can:
For enhanced security, enable a custom passphrase. This acts as a 25th word on top of your recovery seed. Without it, even if someone gains your seed, they cannot access your assets. Use a strong passphrase, and remember: losing it means permanent loss of your wallet.
Unlike software wallets, Trezor keeps your private keys offline. That means even if your PC is compromised, your crypto stays safe. With features like Shamir Backup, Tor support, and FIDO2 authentication, Trezor is built for both privacy and usability.
The Trezor Model T offers a touchscreen, supports more coins, and has advanced features like Shamir Backup. Trezor One is more affordable but lacks these features.
If you have your recovery seed safely stored, you can restore your wallet on a new Trezor or compatible device. Never share or lose your seed phrase.
It’s not recommended. A used Trezor could be compromised. Always purchase from official or authorized sellers to ensure your hardware wallet’s integrity.
Yes, with OTG adapters and the Trezor Suite mobile app (Model T only). Ensure your phone supports the required protocols and USB connectivity.
Regularly check the Trezor Suite for firmware updates. Updates include security patches and new features, ensuring optimal performance and protection.
